India and Russia intend to work on further deepening and expansion of special and privileged partnership between the two countries, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, commenting on the conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin that took place on Wednesday.
"Spoke with President Putin and congratulated him on his re-election as the President of the Russian Federation. We agreed to work together to further deepen and expand India-Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership in the years ahead," Modi said on his X page.
Previously, the Kremlin press office announced that the conversation between the two leaders took place in a friendly atmosphere; the Russian leader wished Modi to successfully hold parliamentary elections. The two leaders exchanged their opinion on the international agenda, including on the situation around Ukraine. The sides reaffirmed their intent to coordinate their actions in multilateral formats, including the SCO and BRICS. The leaders noted that the economic cooperation between the two countries is developing actively.
