MOSCOW, March 18. /TASS/. Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov avoided specifying for whom blogger Alexey Navalny might have been exchanged, if such an exchange had taken place.
"Also, [Russian President Vladimir] Putin did not name the person (who put forward the proposal for exchanging Navalny - TASS) or other modalities of this idea. Accordingly, neither can I," Peskov said when asked by the media who specifically Navalny might have been exchanged for.
Earlier, Putin told a news conference at his election headquarters that shortly before Navalny's death in prison, he had been offered to exchange him "for some people imprisoned in Western countries."
Putin said he agreed without hesitation. The only counter-condition Putin said he put forward was that Navalny not return to Russia.
"We'd change him provided he would not come back and stay there," Putin said.
