Russia cooperates with ombudsmen across the world despite obstructions — Commissioner

Tatyana Moskalkova noted that the "Eurasian ombudsmen alliance" association appeared and got stronger over the course of seven years

MOSCOW, March 14. /TASS/. Russia actively cooperates with human rights commissioners across the world despite the obstructions from unfriendly states, Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova said.

"Although some try to isolate us, we develop the geography of participation and cooperation with human rights commissioners from almost every continent very actively," Moskalkova, a graduate of the Russian Foreign Ministry Diplomatic Academy, said at the event, dedicated to the Academy’s 90th anniversary.

She thanked the Academy and Foreign Ministry employees "for their help in development of the institution of the [Russian] ombudsman."

"Every year, we hold a conference on exchange of the best practices of the ombudsmen. Despite the horribly complicated logistics and the attempt to prevent ombudsmen from other countries from participating, 42 countries took part in the conference anyway," the official said.

She noted that the "Eurasian ombudsmen alliance" association appeared and got stronger over the course of seven years.

"Today, we have launched the ‘CIS human rights commission’ project," she added. "This is a very important supranational integrational project.".
