Russia should set up protective cordon to prevent any incursions — Medvedev

Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman said that Russia must safeguard its interests in full

MOSCOW, February 21. /TASS/. Russia needs to create a protective cordon that will shield from any intrusions into its lands, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said.

"We must safeguard our interests in full," the politician said in response to a question from TASS during his interview with the Russian media.

Medvedev explained that this means two things.

"Firstly, to accomplish the objectives of the special military operation which the president named. Secondly, to create the necessary protective cordon which will secure against any encroachments on our lands: not only shelling attacks, but also active offensive operations," Medvedev said.

The politician emphasized that "only in this case will it be possible to acknowledge that the tasks have been accomplished."

Medvedev’s full interview with the Russian media will be published on February 22.
