Lavrov urges G20 countries not to use economy as weapon

The top Russian diplomat noted that the agenda of the Brazilian chairmanship at the G20 aligns with Russian plans in BRICS

MOSCOW, February 21. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has urged G20 countries to take on an obligation not to use the economy as a weapon.

"It is necessary to work out balanced solutions on energy transition, digital transformation, restoring supply chains, access to energy resources and food. It is important for G20 countries to take on obligations not to use the economy as a weapon and refrain from unfair business practices," he said in an interview with Brazil’s O Globo replying to a question about the current role of the G20 and its goals during the Brazilian chairmanship.

The top Russian diplomat noted that the agenda of the Brazilian chairmanship at the G20 aligns with Russian plans in BRICS which Russia chairs in 2024.
