Ukrainian military loses up to 40 troops in Zaporozhye direction in 24 hours

Ukraine's forces suffered losses of 230 troops dead and injured in the Krasny Liman, the Russian Defense Ministry says

MOSCOW, January 8. /TASS/. The Ukrainian army’s losses in the Zaporozhye direction reached up to 40 troops over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

"In the Zaporozhye direction the units of the Russian military group supported by aviation and artillery attacks hit the 118th mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian armed forces and the 3rd brigade of Ukraine’s National Guard near the settlements of Rabotino and Novoprokopovka of the Zaporozhye Region. The losses of the Ukrainian military reached up to 40 troops, a tank, two infantry fighting vehicles, three cars and a D-20," the report reads.

The Ukrainian military lost up to 230 troops dead and injured in the Krasny Liman direction over the past 24 hours, the ministry said.

"The enemy lost up to 230 troops dead and injured, three armored combat vehicles, eight cars, as well as two Akatsiya self-propelled artillery systems," the report said.

In the Krasny Liman direction, the units of the battlegroup Center with the support of aviation and artillery hit troops and equipment near the settlements of Torskoye, Yampolovka of the Donetsk People’s Republic and Chervonaya Dibrova of the Lugansk People’s Republic, the ministry added.

The Ukrainian military lost up to 60 troops in the Kherson Direction over the past 24 hours, with a drone control center and a field ammunition depot hit, according to the report.

"The enemy destroyed more than 60 troops dead and injured, three cars. Moreover, a drone control center and a field ammunition depot of the Ukrainian army were hit," the report reads.

In the Kherson direction, the units of the Dnepr battlegroup hit the troops and equipment of the 35th and the 38th marine brigades and the 121st territorial defense brigade on the left bank of the Dnieper River near the settlements of Mikhailovka, Ivanovka, Sablukovka and Kachkarovka of the Kherson Region, the ministry said.

The units of the battlegroup East repelled three attacks by the Ukrainian army in the southern Donetsk direction over the past 24 hours, according to the ministry.

"In the southern Donetsk direction, the units of the battlegroup East supported by aviation and artillery repelled three attacks by the 127th territorial defense brigade of the Ukrainian army to the north of the settlement of Priyutnoye of the Zaporozhye Region," the report reads.

The troops of Ukraine’s 79th air assault brigade were also hit near the settlement of Novomikhailovka of the Donetsk People’s Republic, the ministry said. "The enemy’s losses reached up to 130 troops dead and injured, two armored combat vehicles, three cars, as well as a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system," the ministry added.

Russia’s armed forces have repelled nine attacks by the enemy in the Kupyansk direction, with the Ukrainian army having lost more than 110 troops and 13 equipment units, the report said.

"In the Kupyansk direction, active actions by the units of the battlegroup West, aviation and artillery repelled nine attacks by assault groups of the 32nd, 43rd and 115th mechanized, the 25th airborne, the 95th air assault brigade of the Ukrainian forces near the settlements of Sinkovka, Ivanovka of the Kharkov Region and Terny of the Donetsk People’s Republic. The enemy’s losses surpassed 110 troops, two tanks, two infantry fighting vehicles, two armored fighting vehicles, three cars, as well as two D-20 howitzers and two Gvozdika self-propelled artillery systems," the report reads.

The Ukrainian military lost over 250 troops and nine equipment units in the Donetsk direction over the past 24 hours, the ministry said.

"In the Donetsk direction, the units of the battlegroup South supported by artillery and aviation hit the troops and equipment of the 24th, 28th, 42nd, 93rd mechanized, the 92nd assault brigades of the Ukrainian armed forces, as well as the 112th territorial defense brigade near the settlements of Toretsk, Andreyevka, Kleshcheyevka and Krasnoye of the Donetsk People’s Republic," the report reads.

Ukraine’s losses in this direction "totaled over 250 troops dead and injured, two tanks, three armored combat vehicles, two cars, as well as two D-30 howitzers," the ministry said.

Russia’s armed forces have also delivered a multiple attack with high-precision heavy air-and sea-based weapons, including a Kinzhal hypersonic missile, against Ukraine’s defense facilities.

"This morning a multiple attack was delivered against Ukraine’s defense facilities with high-precision heavy air- and sea-based weapons, including a Kinzhal hypersonic missile," the report said.

Russia’s armed forces hit the spot where commanders of the Ukrainian 101st territorial defense brigade’s units met, during the special military operation in Ukraine in the past 24 hours, the ministry noted.

"The missile forces and artillery, uncrewed aerial combat vehicles of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation hit the spot where commanders of the 101st territorial defense brigade’s units met, as well as 113 artillery units of the Ukrainian military in battery, troops and military equipment in 108 regions," the report reads.

Russian air defense forces intercepted five HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems and destroyed 14 drones of the Ukrainian Armed Forces over the past 24 hours, the ministry reported.

"In the past 24 hours, air defense capabilities intercepted five HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems. Moreover, 14 Ukrainian drones were destroyed near the settlements of the Verkhnekamenka of the Lugansk People’s Republic, Peski, Novomikhailovka of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Kamenka-Dneprovskaya, Novoye of the Zaporozhye Region, Radensk and Golaya Pristan of the Kherson Region," the report said.

In all, the Russian Armed Forces have destroyed 567 Ukrainian warplanes, 265 helicopters, 10,540 unmanned aerial vehicles, 447 anti-aircraft missile systems, 14,536 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,201 multiple rocket launchers, 7,666 field artillery guns and mortars and 17,210 special military motor vehicles since the beginning of the special military operation in Ukraine, the ministry said.
