MOSCOW, December 24 /TASS/. The New People (Novyye Lyudi) Party will hold a pre-election congress, where the decision on the candidate for the Russian presidency will be made.
The party will thus for the first time participate in the presidential race.
Three candidates are considered for the nomination, the Party said earlier. They are New People Party leader Alexey Nechaev, Deputy Speaker of the State Duma [the lower house of the Russian parliament] Vladislav Davankov, and deputy head of the party’s faction in the State Duma Sardana Avksentyeva.
"A central council’s meeting of the Party will take place right before the New People’s congress, where one nomination for the presidency will be elected. Then congress members will vote in support of this candidate. The given candidate will be nominated if supported by the majority of votes," the Party’s press service told TASS.
