Russia ready to cooperate with Africa in peaceful nuclear development — diplomat

"Active work on the implementation" of agreements reached at the latest Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg is underway, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov stressed

MOSCOW, November 28. /TASS/. Moscow is ready to cooperate with Africa not only in traditional areas, but also in the fields of peaceful nuclear development, digital technologies, Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov told the Primakov Readings forum.

"Considering the demands of African friends, Russia's goal is to use its natural competitive advantages in the areas where it is objectively one of the best in the world. They include education, healthcare, agriculture and food security governance, military and military-technical cooperation. That said, we are ready to cooperate not only in traditional areas, but also on new promising trends, including peaceful atom, space exploration, digital technologies," he said.

"Active work on the implementation" of agreements reached at the latest Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg is underway, Bogdanov added.

"The role of the Russian summit and the results of its declaration as systemic instruments for promoting efficient partnership, giving it a strategic tone, has been confirmed," he noted.

The Primakov Readings international forum is being held in Moscow on November 27-28. It is an annual international research and expert forum dedicated to the memory of Russian statesman and diplomat Yevgeny Primakov (1929-2015). The forum addresses various scenarios for international relations, global security challenges and new models for interaction among international policy actors.
