Railroad service between Crimea and Kherson region restored — authorities

According to Kirill Stremousov, the railroad is currently being used for military purposes only, but passenger service restoration is a matter of time

SIMFEROPOL, May 11. /TASS/. Railroad service between the Kherson region and Crimea has been restored, but is currently being used for military purposes only, said Kirill Stremousov, a deputy head of the region’s civil-military administration.

"The railroad service has been restored, and an armored train’s passage from Crimea to Kherson was the best proof of that. <…> The railroad is currently being used for military purposes only, but passenger service restoration is a matter of time," he told reporters Wednesday.

Passenger service may be reinstated when Nikolayev and Odessa have been freed and railroad safety can be properly ensured, Stremousov said. No acts of sabotage have been reported on the railroad in the past two months it has been operating, he added.
