Pre-trial restraint for Governor Chibis’ attacker to be decided in closed court session

KIROVSK /MURMANSK REGION/, April 6. /TASS/. The on-site meeting of the Apatity City Court to select a pre-trial restraint for the attacker of the Governor of the Murmansk region Andrey Chibis will be held behind closed doors, according to Judge Alexander Timchenko.

"I ask representatives of the media and members of the public to leave the courtroom. The court has decided to consider this petition in a closed court session. Media representatives will be invited to the announcement," he said.

According to a TASS correspondent, the attack on Chibis was not prepared in advance. Alexander Bydanov, who committed the attack, said everything happened spontaneously. He bought the knife in a store and kept it in his car.

On April 4, Governor of the Murmansk region Andrey Chibis was stabbed in the stomach in the city of Apatity following a meeting with local residents. His attacker was detained on the spot. Attempted murder charges were filed.
