Emergencies Ministry's main rescue teams dispatched to Orenburg Region to fight floods

The rescuers have 20 watercrafts, five units of high cross-country vehicles, wetsuits and a diving station for rapid deployment

MOSCOW, April 5. /TASS/. Russian Emergencies Minister Alexander Kurenkov has ordered to send employees of two advanced rescue squads of the ministry to the Orenburg Region, the ministry's press service told TASS.

"Two emergency agency's Il-76 airplanes with rescuers on board flew to the city of Orsk in the Orenburg Region. More than 100 specialists of the Tsentrospas squad and the Russian Emergencies Ministry's Leader Center for Special Risk Operations will reinforce the grouping in the most difficult areas of the region," the ministry said.

Another team of 40 rescuers is coming from Perm.

The rescuers have 20 watercrafts, five units of high cross-country vehicles, wetsuits and a diving station for rapid deployment. In addition, a pump and hose complex "Shkval" of the Russian Emergencies Ministry's Noginsk Rescue Center, capable of pumping up to 350 liters per second, has been sent to the region. A mobile control center equipped with two drones will be used to monitor the situation.

According to the latest data, 1,659 houses and 5,062 backyards have been flooded in the region. A total of 2,797 people have been evacuated, including 636 children. There are 185 people in temporary accommodation centers.
