ASTRAKHAN, November 17. /TASS/. A search found no one trapped under the rubble of a residential building that collapsed in southern Russia’s Astrakhan on Thursday, the regional emergencies ministry reported.
"There are no people under the debris. <…> All residents of the collapsed sections have been identified, no one is missing," the ministry said.
The damaged building structures are still being dismantled, the ministry added.
The rescue team are planning to clear the rubble by 2:00 p.m. local time (10:00 a.m. GMT) on Friday. Earlier reports said the rescue effort has involved nearly 200 people.
Two sections of a five-story residential building collapsed in Astrakhan on Thursday evening, killing an elderly woman. As many as 231 people, including 37 children, have been evacuated from the building. A probe found that the accident might have been caused by redecoration in one of the flats, with construction workers damaging the supporting structure.
