Magnitude 6 earthquake strikes off Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula

It is reported that there were no casualties or damage

MOSCOW, April 7. /TASS/. A magnitude 6 earthquake struck 445 kilometers away from the Russian city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the Kamchatka branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Geophysical Service said in a statement.

"The quake’s epicenter was 445 kilometers away from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky at a depth of 94.3 kilometers. The earthquake’s magnitude was 6," the statement reads.

The Russian Emergencies Ministry in the Sakhalin Region, in turn, said that an earthquake had been recorded in the Pacific Ocean 150 kilometers south of the city of Severo-Kurilsk at 1:22 p.m. (02:22 GMT). Tremors of magnitude 2 were felt in the city.

According to preliminary reports, there were no casualties or damage. No tsunami warning was issued. Buildings are being inspected for damage, the Sakhalin branch of the Emergencies Ministry added.
