Moscow Exchange indices rapidly growing after Bank of Russia keeps key rate

By 13:47 Moscow time, the MOEX and the RTS indices gained 5.24%

MOSCOW, December 20. /TASS/. The Russian stock market is showing a rapid growth of leading indices by more than 5% against the backdrop of the Bank of Russia's decision to keep the key rate at 21% per annum - the MOEX index exceeded 2,500 points for the first time since December 12.

Thus, before the publication of the regulator's decision, the MOEX index was at 2,451.23 (+1.44%), the RTS index - at 746.65 (+1.44%), as of 13:25 Moscow time.

As of 13:30 Moscow time, the MOEX Index was rapidly growing by 4% to 2,513.01 points, while the RTS Index was added 4% and reached 765.47 points.

By 13:47 Moscow time, the MOEX Index had accelerated its growth and was at 2,543.05 points (+5.24%), while the RTS Index was at 774.62 points (+5.24%).

Contrary to analysts' forecasts, the Bank of Russia decided to keep the key rate at 21% per annum, but noted that it would assess raising the rate at the next meeting.
