Gazprom SPKA to create low-orbit satcom system — deputy CEO

Sergey Masalov said that the constellation will comprise 78 satellites

MOSCOW, April 16. /TASS/. Gazprom SPKA is developing a satellite communication system of 78 spacecraft, First Deputy CEO Sergey Masalov said.

"We also have our own low-orbit [satellite] program, although not as Elon Musk has, but the orbit is slightly higher by 1,300 - 1,200 [kilometers]," the senior executive said.

The constellation will comprise 78 satellites. They will provide for broadband Internet access, including for mobile subscribers on water, air, rail and motor transport.
