Damage from Moscow attack may exceed $108 mln as insurers expect probe to take two years

Meanwhile, the insurer may start making advance payments, insurance market players say

MOSCOW, March 27. /TASS/. The damage from the recent terrorist attack on Crocus City Hall may exceed 10 bln rubles ($108 mln), with the probe and settlement potentially taking up to two years, insurance agents told TASS.

"The actual damage has been estimated at over 10 bln rubles, but the amount of insured losses is not yet clear as it could be much lower. The probe and subsequent settlement process may take up to two years," an insurance agent said, citing the large scope of the damage.

Meanwhile, the insurer may start making advance payments, insurance market players say.

A gang of terrorists attacked the concert venue just outside of Moscow late on March 22. At least 139 people are reported so far to have been killed in the deadly attack, and the number of those injured has risen to 360. Eleven suspects in the attack have been apprehended, including all four gunmen.

Crocus City Hall, owned by Araz Agalarov, opened its doors in October 2009. In an interview with RBC in 2015, the businessman said he had invested $70 mln to build the concert venue with over 9,500 seats.

According to RBC, Gazprombank has a lien on the property.
