MOSCOW, March 1. /TASS/. In his State of the Nation Address to the Russian Federal Assembly yesterday, President Vladimir Putin presented a conceptual framework for proposed changes in the country's tax system, not a fully fleshed-out solution, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a briefing, stating that the details of tax reform measures would be available soon.
"Putin was speaking conceptually about his vision [for tax changes] and has asked the State Duma and the government to think about and work on this issue," Peskov said in response to a question from TASS.
He noted that the outlines of tax reforms developed by the State Duma and the Russian government should be made public in the near future.
"In the very near future, we will see some outlines of this presidential concept following the results of this work [by the Duma and the Cabinet]."
On February 29, in his State of the Nation Address to the Federal Assembly, Putin instructed the relevant agencies to modernize the country’s tax system and formalize the new fiscal procedures by 2030. The head of state proposed "thinking over approaches towards modernization of our fiscal system, a fairer distribution of the fiscal burden onto the side of those earning higher personal and corporate incomes. And, conversely, the tax burden should be lowered for families." The main parameters of the proposed tax reforms are to be determined in the near future.
