ANKARA, November 16. /TASS/. More than 6 million Russian tourists may have visited Turkey by the end of 2023, Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy said on the sidelines of the TravelExpo Ankara 2023 exhibition.
"Unfortunately, we do not expect a new record for this index. But we predict that the number of Russian tourists visiting in 2023 will be higher compared to last year. The number expected is over 6 million people," the agency's spokesman said.
More than 5.2 million Russian tourists visited Turkey in 2022. The TravelExpo Ankara 2023 is held from November 16 to 19 in the Turkish capital. It presents popular tourist destinations in Turkey and beyond.
The Russian stand, organized by the Russian Embassy in Turkey and the Russian House, is one of the most crowded. Its numerous visitors are primarily interested in the culture of Russia and also show great enthusiasm for Russian exchange programs.
