Duty to be factored in profitability of power supplies to China — source

It was reported earlier that Inter RAO, the operator of Russian electricity imports and exports, negotiated the rise in prices for electric power supplies with China by the duty rate

MOSCOW, October 27. /TASS/. The energy market regulation will provide for factoring of the export duty in profitability of electricity supplies to China, with relevant amendments approved by the supervisory board of the Market Council at the meeting on October 27, a source familiar with the situation told TASS.

It was reported earlier that Inter RAO, the operator of Russian electricity imports and exports, negotiated the rise in prices for electric power supplies with China by the duty rate. The profitability of company’s supplies will not change but the Russian budget will receive 7% more funds from Inter RAO, official spokesperson of the company Alexandra Panina said.

TASS sent an inquiry to the Market Council.

The Russian government introduced flexible export duties for certain goods to protect the domestic market. They are effective from October 1 and will be effective until the end of 2024. Electric power is also covered by duties.
