ExxonMobil left Russia after creation of new Sakhalin-1 project operator

The project has been transferred to a Russian operator

MOSCOW, October 17. /TASS/. ExxonMobil left Russia after establishment of a new operator of the Sakhalin-1 oil and gas project, a spokesperson of the US oil and gas major told TASS on Monday.

"I can confirm that we have safely exited," the spokesperson said. "With two decrees, the Russian government has unilaterally terminated our interests in Sakhalin-1 and the project has been transferred to a Russian operator," he noted.

On October 7, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed an executive order establishing the new operator of the Sakhalin-1 oil and gas project. OOO Sakhalin-1 was registered in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk at the turn of the last week.
