MOSCOW, December 27. /TASS/. The temporary stay term in Russia for foreigners without visas will be reduced to 90 days in one year starting in January 1, 2025, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on its website.
According to the statement, a federal law enters into effect, which states that "the temporary stay term for a foreign citizen arriving in the Russian Federation without acquiring a visa must not exceed a total of 90 days during one calendar year."
The ministry pointed out that there are exceptions, provided for by the July 25, 2002 federal law "on the legal status of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation," as well as by Russia’s international treaties. In some cases, the temporary stay term is being prolonged in accordance with the abovementioned federal law.
"The abovementioned amendments cover only foreign citizens arriving in the Russian Federation under the procedure that does not require obtaining a visa. In accordance with the abovementioned federal law, the temporary stay of a foreigner arriving in the Russian Federation under a visa is still being determined by the expiration date of the provided visa," the Foreign Ministry said.
