MOSCOW, November 12. /TASS/. Kalashnikov Concern said it has completed executing contract to supply the Chukavin sniper rifle, a firearm used in the special operation area, to the armed forces this year.
"Kalashnikov Concern has completed the contract for the manufacture of the Chukavin sniper rifle and shipped the products to the customer in full. The Chukavin rifle represents a new generation of Russian sniper firearms, which is actively used in the special military operation zone," the company said in a statement.
According to Kalashnikov Concern President Alan Lushnikov, the rifle has improved usability and firing accuracy, and can integrate any sighting systems of Russian and foreign origin alike.
"At the same time, the Chukavin rifle has retained the reliability of the Dragunov sniper rifle, which is widely known in and out of the country and which Kalashnikov Concern continues to produce in large quantities," he was quoted as saying in the company statement.
The first volume-produced shipment of Chukavin rifles was delivered to the military in 2023. It is a semi-automatic sniper rifle that comes in the 7.62mm by 54mm caliber version and is compatible with Dragunov rifle magazines, as the new rifle is intended to replace and old one, while inheriting its reliability. Chukavin told TASS that the new rifle outperforms its predecessor in terms of accuracy by 25%-30%. Without a magazine, the Chukavin rifle weighs 4.8 kilograms. With a flame arrester and an unfolded buttstock, it has the length of 1,170 mm, of which the barrel makes up 620 mm.
