Russian envoy says IAEA refuses 'to say it straight,' call out Kiev for attacking ZNPP

On April 7, the IAEA issued Grossi’s statement, slamming the drone attack on the ZNPP as "reckless" and calling on those responsible for military decisions to refrain from actions violating the basic principles of nuclear security

MOSCOW, April 8. /TASS/. International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi knows very well where the threat to the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) is coming from but will not dare condemn Kiev for the latest attack on the site, Russian Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov told the Rossiya-24 TV channel.

"I had a conversation with the agency’s Director General Rafael Grossi yesterday. He understands everything and he is very worried," the diplomat noted, commenting on the Ukrainian military's April 7 strikes on the ZNPP.

He commended Grossi’s earlier statement but pointed "to a big flaw" in the IAEA chief’s position. "The IAEA did not have the courage to say who’s to blame, that is, to say it straight that the attacks had been carried out by the Ukrainian armed forces," Ulyanov explained.

On April 7, the IAEA issued Grossi’s statement on the X social media platform, slamming the drone attack on the ZNPP as "reckless" and calling on those responsible for military decisions to refrain from actions violating the basic principles of nuclear security.
