KALININGRAD, March 25. /TASS/. The missile corvette Grad from the Baltic Fleet’s Baltiysk naval base repulsed a notional enemy’s aerial attack by artillery guns and destroyed adversary naval drones during drills in Russia’s westernmost exclave of the Kaliningrad Region, the Fleet’s press office reported on Monday.
"The crew of the missile corvette Grad accomplished practical firings by shipborne A-190 and AK-630M2 artillery systems against simulated aerial targets and small-size sea targets designating the hypothetical enemy’s naval drones," the press office said in a statement.
The targets were accurately hit, it said.
The missile corvette’s crew also conducted artillery firings against a naval target simulating an adversary combat ship and destroyed a floating mine detected by the warship’s sonars, the press office reported.
The Baltic Fleet’s surface ships and support vessels provided for safe firings in the area of the drills, it added.
The missile corvette Grad is a Project 21631 multipurpose ship. Project 21631 Buyan-M combat ships proved their efficiency in the special military operation in Ukraine and in accomplishing objectives in the Syrian Arab Republic.
The missile corvette Grad entered service with a taskforce of the Baltic Fleet’s missile ships and gunboats in December last year. The warship is outfitted with the most advanced artillery, missile, anti-saboteur, anti-aircraft and radio-technical armaments. The waterjet engine installed on these ships enables them to conduct combat operations in shallow waters.
The shipborne 30mm automatic artillery gun is capable of wiping out enemy aircraft, helicopters and other aerial attack weapons, engaging small-size naval and coastal targets located at a considerable distance from the coastline. The missile corvette Grad is the carrier of Kalibr and Oniks cruise missiles.
