BUDAPEST, November 14. /TASS/. The Hungarian government is optimistic that Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential election will help end the Ukraine conflict and bring stability to Europe as early as next year, Gergely Gulyas, head of the office of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, said at a news briefing.
According to him, during his presidential campaign, Trump repeatedly emphasized the need "to have peace." "We can realistically expect that peace in Europe will be achieved next year, and this, in turn, will enable Europe, and Hungary in particular, to redirect more resources toward economic growth, higher wages, housing development, and support for families," the Hungarian official said.
He also asserted that the upcoming return of the Republican leader to the White House will help restore Hungarian-US relations, which have significantly deteriorated under the Biden administration. Hungary is hopeful for an "unprecedentedly strong partnership with the United States after Donald Trump takes office," Gulyas added.
Over the past few years, the Hungarian prime minister has consistently supported Trump in his political struggles in the US, hoping for his return to the White House. On October 31, he expressed his support for Trump’s candidacy during a phone call with the US politician. After the election, Orban congratulated Trump on his victory and expressed confidence that it would benefit the world as a whole.
