Neither the date nor other details of the medical examination were disclosed

MOSCOW, March 9. /TASS/. The former commander-in-chief of Ukraine’s armed forces, Valery Zaluzhny underwent a medical examination in February and was found unfit for military service, the Mirror of the Week periodical has said citing sources.

Neither the date nor other details of the examination were disclosed. The sources said that Zaluzhny resigned from military service in February.

The weekly explains that after the dismissal Zaluzhny was placed at the disposal of the defense minister. However, the media resource continued, the defense minister did not offer Zaluzhny any significant military position adequate to his level of training and experience. No proposals were made by the president, either. Under these circumstances, General Zaluzhny decided to resign from the military service in order to have a chance and right to look for a different occupation.

On February 8, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky removed Zaluzhny from the post of the commander-in-chief, pointing to stagnation on the frontline and the need for a reshuffle of the top brass. On February 9, Zelensky awarded Zaluzhny the title of Hero of Ukraine. On Thursday, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said that Zelensky had agreed Zaluzhny's candidacy for the post of ambassador to Britain.
