Moldovan prosecutors find no evidence of armed provocation plot

The statement also said the lawmaker refused to provide evidence to prosecutors

CHISINAU, April 13. /TASS/. Moldovan prosecutors have not been able to substantiate the claims made by a local lawmaker that a military provocation had been plotted on the border of Transnistria, Moldova’s prosecutor’s office in charge of fighting organized crime said on Thursday.

"The statements by lawmaker Marina Tauber about preparations for military provocations near the Transnistria region haven’t been verified," the prosecutor’s office said in a statement on Facebook (banned in Russia as it’s owned by Meta Corporation, which is designated as extremist in Russia).

The statement also said the lawmaker refused to provide evidence to prosecutors.

Earlier, Tauber stated that Moldovan President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean were allegedly plotting a military provocation in the breakaway region of Transnistria for April 17 with the aim of bringing Moldova into the conflict in Ukraine. According to Tauber, the information came from foreign intelligence services. She said that as part of preparations for the provocation, military uniforms and other things had been delivered to neighboring Romania to use that country’s military personnel for the operation.
