BERLIN, April 11. /TASS/. Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council Secretary Alexey Danilov has said that the leak of classified Pentagon data won’t affect Kiev’s military strategy including the plans for a counteroffensive, according to his interview with the German broadcaster ARD that was aired on Tuesday.
"If someone thinks that we have only one version [of the action plan], then this has no basis in reality. Even three versions are not enough," he said.
Danilov asserted that Kiev would decide when to start the planned counteroffensive "at the very last moment."
Commenting on a CNN report that, citing a source close to [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky, said that the documents that surfaced on the Internet forced Kiev to change its "war plans", the security council secretary said that he did not know who was CNN’s source.
"In any case, I can say that the number of people who are aware of our plans on our territory is extremely limited. And I don't think the CNN source has anything to do with that," he said.
Danilov asserted that Kiev is in regular contact with its main allies, such as the US, the UK, Germany and Poland, but, according to him, "data on certain operations, unit numbers, type of personnel and deployment areas - this information is top secret."
Leak of classified documents
Politico earlier reported that relations the leak of the classified Pentagon documents frayed the relations between the US and its allies, including Ukraine. US news media earlier reported that the Pentagon and the US Department of Justice started an investigation into the leak of the classified documents that are related to the plans of NATO and Washington to make Ukrainian forces ready for a counteroffensive. Reuters reported it could be the most significant data leak since more than 700,000 documents, videos and diplomatic cables were posted on WikiLeaks in 2013.
