Germany ready to provide security guarantees to Ukraine - German foreign minister

"We are in complete solidarity with Ukraine, 100%," Annalena Baerbock assured adding that was referred to the peace talks and the later peace order

BERLIN, March 31. /TASS/. Germany is ready to provide security guarantees to Ukraine after the end of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said on the ARD television channel on Wednesday.

"If assurances are needed, Germany will also be there and give guarantees," Baerbock said.

"We are in complete solidarity with Ukraine, 100%," she assured adding that was referred to the peace talks and the later peace order. Nevertheless, Baerbock pointed out that the talks between Ukraine and Russia were not in the stage that would suggest that a breakthrough was within reach.

Russia and Ukraine entered into negotiations on February 28. Several rounds of talks took place in Belarus, but then were continued via video link. On March 29, another face-to-face meeting was held in Turkey’s Istanbul. After the meeting, Russian presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky, who heads the Russian delegation at the talks, said that Moscow had received from Kiev its written proposals for a future bilateral agreement. He added that after studying the initiatives, Russia would put forward its own proposals.
