The authorities of the United Arab Emirates have not informed the Netherlands Public Prosecution Service about detaining Dutch striker from the Russian Premier League’s Spartak Moscow Football Club Quincy Promes, Tusha Essed, press secretary of the Dutch prosecutor's office, told TASS.

"We were not informed about Promes being detained in Dubai," she said, advising to get in touch with the UAE authorities on the matter.

Earlier, the Baza Telegram channel reported that Promes, who is on the wanted list per the Netherlands’ request, was unable to fly out with his team to St. Petersburg because he had been detained at a passport control checkpoint at Dubai Airport.

On February 14, a court in Amsterdam sentenced Promes to six years in prison after finding him guilty of drug smuggling. Last June, the footballer was found guilty of stabbing his cousin during a family get-together in 2020. Promes’ lawyers are appealing both verdicts.
