Russian skiers take podium in pursuit race at Universiade

At the moment, Russia tops the medial count with five gold, six silver and four bronze medals

KRASNOYARSK, March 4. /TASS/. Russian cross-country skier Alisa Zhambalova has won the 5km freestyle pursuit race at the 2019 Universiade in the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk.

Two more Russians, Ekaterina Smirnova and Yana Kirpichenko, clinched silver and bronze respectively. Tatiana Aleshina finished fifth, while Polina Nekrasova and Kristina Kuskova came sixth and seventh.

At the moment, Russia tops the medial count with five gold, six silver and four bronze medals, followed by Switzerland (1-1-1) and Canada (1-0-1).

The Winter Universiade will run until March 12.
