MOSCOW, November 30. /TASS/. Almost 60% of Russians polled expressed confidence in what tomorrow will bring, with such a high figure remaining steady for the second year in a row, according to the published results of a Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) poll conducted on October 16 among 1,600 respondents aged over 18.
"The share of Russians who declared [their] confidence in [what] tomorrow [will bring], for the second year in a row remains at a record high level: 59% (versus 61% in 2022)," the polling organization said.
The poll showed that respondents' answers to this question varied depending on their financial situation. Russians with a good level of income expressed confidence in the future 3.5 times more often than low-income citizens (76% versus 20%). Confidence in the future has no pronounced gender specificity, with men and women expressing such confidence at the same frequency.
According to the survey results, Russians' confidence in the future depends on five factors: personal well-being (a job, support from relatives), social security (earnings, disposable income and savings, government social policy), the general state of affairs in the country (normal situation in the country, stability), trust in state institutions, and optimism.
The anxiety index, which reflects the general mood about the future, reached the minimum value for the entire period of observation, amounting to 45% (versus 59% in 2022). "The survey results also showed that the share of optimists is higher among those who have such resources as health, finances and opportunities for realizing their personal plans and goals, that is, among young people 18-24 years old (44%), financially secure (55%) and residents of cities with 1 mln-plus inhabitants (43%)," the polling organization reported.
