Over 130 people detained during two days of protests in Georgia — Ministry

A total of 10 policemen were injured Wednesday night, the Ministry noted, adding that some civilians were injured as well

TBILISI, March 9. /TASS/. In the last two days, Georgian law enforcement officers detained 133 people over administrative charges and 1 person over a criminal charge during the protests in Tbilisi, the Georgian Ministry of the Interior reported Thursday.

"During the March 7-8 protests near the parliament building, one person was detained for […] attacking a policeman and a total of 133 people were detained for [small public disorder and disobedience to police]," the Ministry said.

A total of 10 policemen were injured Wednesday night, the Ministry noted, adding that some civilians were injured as well.

On March 7 and 8, large-scale protests took place in Tbilisi after the parliament passed the Georgian version of the bill on foreign agents in the first reading. Both protests were dispersed by police using water cannons and tear gas. After the protests, the ruling Georgian Dream party decided to withdraw the bill from the parliament.
