MOSCOW, December 14. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin, who will once again run for presidency in March 2024, will make more domestic trips and talk to people more often during his campaign, his spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"Of course, [the president’s] schedule will be more intense. It will be more diverse from the geographical point of view, and more intense in terms of human contact," Peskov told the Rossiya-24 television.
The Kremlin spokesman emphasized that it was not Putin’s first election campaign, and "every time he is focused on continuing his normal working schedule."
"His schedule is as intense as possible. The vast part of this schedule is non-public, but it is almost a round-the-clock work," Peskov said.
He added that all necessary procedures for Putin’s nomination as a candidate for a new presidential term will be carried out properly and in due time. The official refrained from commenting on the timeframe for Putin’s presidential campaign, explaining that it is up to the Central Election Commission to define the schedule.
"But, of course, all necessary procedures, formalities for Putin’s nomination as a candidate will be carried out," Peskov underscored.
He pointed out that "the initiative group already carries out certain actions, it plans wide-scale events on Putin’s nomination as a candidate."
"Everything will happen in due time," the spokesman said, adding that "the preparation of the president’s election campaign will become a very important stage."
On December 8, Putin announced that he would run in the presidential election in March 2024. His current term expires on May 7, 2024.
Russia’s presidential election will be held over three days, on March 15-17, 2024.
