MOSCOW, February 8. /TASS/. Ukrainian troops have switched from hectic attacks to deliberately shelling hospitals in the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), acting leader Leonid Pasechnik said on Wednesday.
"Those have mostly been targeted attacks against hospitals of late where our injured [servicemen] and peaceful civilians are undergoing treatment," Pasechnik told Rossiya-24 TV channel.
The Ukrainians have been carrying out attacks on hospitals where there are lots of people always, he added. "The attacks were previously chaotic. Now that Ukrainian nationalists have received newer weapons, they are targeting facilities with many people inside," Pasechnik underscored.
Ukrainian POWs often receive inpatient care in the same hospitals, too, Pasechnik noted. "Destroying hospitals where care is being given is utterly inhuman. That’s a violation of all norms and rules, from a humanitarian point of view," he maintained.
Earlier, LPR’s former Ambassador to Russia Rodion Miroshnik said that Ukrainian troops had shelled hospitals in the republic’s localities three times since early this year. In the latest attack on January 28, a hospital in the city of Novoaidar was hit by a HIMARS projectile, he said. According to Miroshnik, since HIMARS systems are high-precision weapons, the attack which left 14 people killed and 24 more wounded, was a targeted one.
