MOSCOW, April 6. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed condolences over the death of LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the Kremlin website said on Wednesday.
The head of state noted that he "found out about the passing of Vladimir Volfovich Zhirinovsky with deep regret."
"Vladimir Zhirinovsky was an experienced politician, an energetic human being open for communication, a vivid public speaker and debater. The founder and permanent leader of one of the country’s oldest political parties, he has done a lot for the emergence and development of Russia’s parliamentarism, domestic legislation, sincerely aspired to contribute to the resolution of the most important nationwide tasks," Putin’s statement said.
The Russian leader emphasized that "always, with any audience, in the most heated discussions" Zhirinovsky adopted a patriotic stance standing up for Russia’s interests.
"We will keep him in our fond heartfelt memories. Please, convey my condolences to Vladimir Volfovich’s relatives and friends," the statement concluded.
The last time Putin and Zhirinovsky interacted in public was on October 5, 2021. Overall, the Russian leader regularly met with the LDPR leader to discuss not only the issues of party building but also various ideas for the development of the country’s economy and social sphere.
