Moscow to give tough response to foreign companies’ move to leave Russia — Medvedev

The western politicians aren’t taking into account that foreign businesses are unwilling to leave Russia and will potentially suffer losses, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council noted

MOSCOW, March 10. /TASS/. Moscow will give a tough response to foreign companies’ move to leave Russia under Western pressure, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev wrote in a social media post.

"Short-sighted russophobic officials don’t care that people both in Europe and Russia may lose their jobs and incomes due to these stupid decisions that run counter to common sense," the post reads.

"The main goal of these political windbags is to put severe pressure on shareholders, making them submit to their will. They aren’t taking into account that foreign businesses are unwilling to leave Russia and will potentially suffer losses. We will give a principled and tough response to that," Medvedev pointed out.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation based on a request from the heads of the Donbass republics. The Russian leader stressed that Moscow had no plans to occupy Ukrainian territories and the goal was to demilitarize and denazify the country. In response, the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom and a number of other countries announced sanctions on Russian individuals and entities. Numerous foreign companies have announced the suspension of operations in Russia.
