BEIJING, November 18. /TASS/. The most important thing in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine is to de-escalate the situation as soon as possible and find a political solution, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lin Jian said at a briefing.

Commenting on the information about the authorization of the US, France and the UK to launch strikes from the territory of Ukraine deep into Russia with tactical missiles, the diplomat said: "It is in the interest of all sides to cease fire and hostilities as soon as possible and seek a political solution." "The most important thing now is to promote an early cooling of the situation," Lin Jian pointed out.

He recalled China's consistent and clear position on the Ukrainian issue. The diplomat pointed out that Beijing has always encouraged and supported all efforts aimed at the peaceful settlement of the crisis. "China is ready to continue to play a constructive role in the political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis," he added.

Earlier, The New York Times reported, citing sources, that Biden had authorized strikes from the territory of Ukraine deep into Russia with ATACMS tactical ballistic missiles. In turn, Le Figaro sources said that France and the UK had authorized strikes with SCALP and Storm Shadow tactical missiles. The article was later retracted.
