Western dominance in global affairs gives way to more complex system — Putin

The Russian president noted that "the changed balance of powers implies a re-distribution of shares in favor of those growing and developing countries that have been feeling left behind until now"

SOCHI, October 21. /TASS/. The centuries-long Western dominance on the international area gives way to a much more complex system, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Thursday.

"The changed balance of powers implies a re-distribution of shares in favor of those growing and developing countries that have been feeling left behind until now. To put it straight, the Western dominance in global affairs that has begun several centuries ago and that almost became absolute for a short period in late 20th century, now gives way to a much more complex system," the Russian leader said.

He underscored that the process of this transformation is unique. According to Putin, the mankind has an opportunity to for a new world order not as a result of a major war, as it was before. He noted that the current situation is a result of a failed attempt to establish a system of international relations after the Cold War.
