Fight against pandemic can bring about breakthrough in many fields, Medvedev says

Medvedev believes, the breakthrough can happen not only in the pharmaceutical sector but also in the field of biotechnology and cyber security

GORKI, February 1. /TASS/. A breakthrough in the pharmaceutical and other areas can be one of the outcomes of combating COVID-19, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council Dmitry Medvedev told the country’s mass media in an interview.

"I am totally convinced that as a result of the collective fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, humanity will have many new drugs. I even assume that there will be a breakthrough in some direction <...>," Medvedev said.

He noted that the COVID-19 pandemic stepped up work in a number of fields. In this regard, Medvedev believes, the breakthrough can happen not only in the pharmaceutical sector but also in the field of biotechnology, cyber security and a large number of other areas.
