MOSCOW, April 15. /TASS/. Water levels in the Tobol River near the city of Kurgan in the southern Urals may rise to 1,082 cm under the worst-case scenario, the Kurgan Region government wrote on its Telegram channel.

Currently, the water level in the Tobol River near Kurgan is just about seven meters, it said. Meanwhile, "the forecast of the National Center of the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations says that in the worst developments, it may rise to ten meters and 82 centimeters," the government said.

A state of emergency was declared in the Kurgan Region on April 8. The water level in the Tobol River which flows through the region and crosses the city of Kurgan is expected to surpass 11 meters, putting the city at risk of flooding. All residents in the Tobol basin have been urged to evacuate. Some 309 residential buildings and 571 homesteads in five municipal districts remain flooded in the region.
