Russia opens Yamal airport for international flights

The decision is aimed at implementation of the investment project on production and processing of gas in the Yamal Peninsula

MOSCOW, July 29. /TASS/. Russia’s government has opened the Sabetta airport (in north-west Siberia’s Yamal) for international flights, the order is published on the government’s official website on Wednesday.

The decision "is aimed at implementation of the investment project on production and processing of gas, construction of an LNG plant and for loading of KNG and gas condensate from the Yuzhno-Tambey deposit in the Yamal Peninsula."

The airport will have special border-crossing facilities.
