Russia, Tajikistan agree to boost contacts between business communities

The parties also expressed support for investment cooperation in the fields of environmental protection, transport, and agriculture

DUSHANBE, October 9. /TASS/. Tajikistan and Russia have agreed to boost contacts between the business communities of the two countries, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon told journalists following high-level negotiations between the delegations of the two nations.

"We have agreed to intensify contacts between the business communities of the two countries and to create favorable conditions for investment," he said.

In addition, Rosatom is ready to carry out projects in the field of peaceful nuclear energy in Tajikistan, Russian President Vladimir Putin said. "We see prospects for partnership in peaceful nuclear energy. The state corporation Rosatom is open to cooperation and has unique competencies with no equivalents in the world. This includes, in particular, the construction of small modular reactors," he said.

The parties also expressed support for investment cooperation in the fields of environmental protection, transport, and agriculture. Alongside this, particular attention was paid to developing collaboration in the digital economy and artificial intelligence.

The Russian president is on a state visit to Tajikistan on October 8-9. In Dushanbe, Putin will also participate on October 9 in the second Central Asia-Russia Summit, and on October 10 in a session of the Council of CIS Heads of State.
