Kazakhstan registers rise in demand for gas transit from Russia to Uzbekistan — minister

Almassadam Satkaliyev noted that the requests of Uzbekistan "slightly surpass the initially announced plans"

ASTANA, March 27. /TASS/. The Kazakh authorities register an increase in demand for transit of Russian gas to Uzbekistan, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Almassadam Satkaliyev told reporters.

"It depends on requests of our Uzbek colleagues. Now they slightly surpass the initially announced plans. Overall, we register an increase in demand for transit of Russian gas to Uzbekistan," he said when asked whether Kazakhstan will boost transit of gas from Russia to Uzbekistan this year.

Kazakhstan’s energy ministry said earlier that it planned to increase transit of Russian gas to Uzbekistan via the Kazakh territory from 3 bln cubic meters per year planned earlier in 2023 to 11 bln cubic meters per year starting 2026.
