EU mulling higher tariffs for Russian agri-products — Polish official

The European Commission is considering the possibility of imposing restrictions on importing Tagricultural produce from Russia, the EC press service said on March 15

MOSCOW, March 18. /TASS/. The European Commission (EC) is discussing higher import duties for Russian agricultural produce, Deputy Agriculture Minister of Poland Michal Kolodziejczak said in an interview with the RMF24 radio station.

"Russian foods may be subject to the introduction of very high duties, which [will make it possible] to effectively limit their import in the European Union," the official said. At the same time, the deputy minister stressed that Polish farmers opposing agricultural imports from Russia do not object to continued imports of fertilizers due to their being cheaper for them, he added.

The European Commission (EC) is considering the possibility of imposing restrictions on importing Tagricultural produce from Russia, the EC press service said on March 15 after talks between EC President Ursula von der Leyen and Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk. So far, Latvia is the only member-nation of the EU to introduce restrictions on imports of Russian agricultural products at the national level.
