Aquatic bioresources catch growing in Russia

It is noted that the Far East accounted for about 88% of the catch

MOSCOW, February 26. /TASS/. Aquatic bioresources catch in Russia gained 8.2% from the start if 2024 until February 19 in annual terms and totaled 745,900 metric tons, the Federal Agency for Fisheries said.

"Russian fishermen caught 745,900 metric tons of aquatic bioresources from the start of 2024 until February 19," the agency said.

The Far East accounted for about 88% of the catch, it noted.

Pollack catch totaled 476,700 metric tons, up 7.8% year on year. Pacific herring catch surged by 73.4% annually to 114,100 metric tons. Cod catch edged up by 0.6% to 52,000 metric tons. Baltic herring catch fell by 46% year on year to 2,700 tons. Sprats catch plummeted by 51.8% to 5,300 metric tons.

Fish production in Russia gained 15% annually to 485,100 metric tons by February 19, the agency reported.
