Russian customs service expects trade turnover with China at $220 bln in 2023

According to Ruslan Davydov, the difference in figures is due to various methodologies of foreign trade statistics

KAZAN, December 8. /TASS/. Russia’s Federal Customs Service projects trade turnover with China at around $220 bln by the end of 2023, acting head Ruslan Davydov said.

"We project <…> around $200 bln for the year. <…> Turnover will definitely be much higher than $200 bln," he told reporters.

The General Administration of Customs of China reported earlier that trade turnover between Russia and China rose by 26.7% in January-November 2023 year-on-year to record $218.17 bln.

According to Davydov, the difference in figures is due to various methodologies of foreign trade statistics. "We currently have precise data, our data, which is 186 bln for ten months. <…> Our figures slightly differ from Chinese [figures - TASS] for this year. <…> But the difference is in the limits of standard as methodologies of foreign trade statistics allow such gaps," he said.

In 2021, trade turnover between Russia and China gained 35.8% to $146.88 bln. In 2022, trade turnover between the two countries increased by 29.3% to record $190 bln.
