MINSK, November 23. /TASS/. Leaders of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member nations have signed documents aimed at increasing the CSTO's effectiveness as well as a joint declaration at their summit meeting in Minsk, TASS reports from the site.
The summit brought together the leaders of five of the six member states of the organization: Russian President Vladimir Putin, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan did not turn up at the summit. However, according to Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergey Aleinik, CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov will visit Yerevan after the summit and will hand over the signed documents to the Armenian side.
The participants of the summit signed, among other documents, the Council's decisions "On Measures to Develop the CSTO Crisis Response System," "On the CSTO Joint Press Center," "On the Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff," as well as the document, establishing the "Together for Peace" Medal.
The leaders also signed agreements on mutual settlements between the contingents of the CSTO Collective Forces, "On the distribution of quota posts in the CSTO Secretariat," "On the structure of the CSTO Joint Staff," "On Awarding CSTO Decorations," "On the CSTO Budget for 2024," as well as a document on the presidency of the security bloc and the timing and venue of the next session of the CSTO Collective Security Council.
