Ukrainian drone attack on Kremlin now under investigation — spokesman

The Kremlin views this incident as a planned terrorist attack and attempted assassination targeting the head of state

MOSCOW, May 4. /TASS/. Russia’s Investigative Committee and other agencies are currently investigating the Ukrainian drone attack on the Kremlin early Wednesday morning, and the timeframe for completing this work depends on them, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists on Thursday.

"Undoubtedly, what transpired requires a very thorough investigation. A timely investigation. You know that the Investigative Committee and all the necessary agencies are handling this matter. I cannot tell you when the results should be forthcoming; that depends on them," he noted, replying to a question as to when the results of the investigation would be made public.

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, Ukraine attempted to deliver a drone strike on the official Kremlin residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the presidential press service reported. Military and special services swiftly disabled two drones targeting the Kremlin. Putin was unharmed and continues to work according to his usual schedule.

The Kremlin views this incident as a planned terrorist attack and attempted assassination targeting the head of state. Russia reserves the right to take countermeasures wherever and whenever it deems fit, the press service pointed out.
