SEOUL, April 13. /TASS/. North Korea fired an intermediate-or longer-range ballistic missile from the Pyongyang area towards the Sea of Japan on Thursday, the Yonhap news agency reported, citing South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff.

"While strengthening its monitoring and vigilance, our military is maintaining a full readiness posture in close cooperation with the United States," the Joint Chiefs of Staff said.

On March 27, Pyongyang fired two short-range ballistic missiles. North Korean leader Kim Jong-un chaired a meeting of the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea on Monday, highlighting the need to strengthen deterrence in a more practical and proactive way.
